Maya Turns 18 Months!
Today is a special day in the Kumar house. Maya turned 18 months old today and has been in the USA with her forever family for 6 months now.
What a great joy Maya is! She is always smiling, well most of the times. Sometimes, she does get upset with her big brothers !
She is starting to talk ! She runs and CLIMBS, just like her 2 1/2 year old brother. Chetan and her are really starting to share a close bond.
She just had her 18 month check - up and weighed 24 lbs. She loves to eat!
God has truely blessed us with our little Maya!

Celebrating Maya's First Raksha Bandhan
Maya all dressed up and all ready to tie the rakhi on her brothers.
Devan is being blessed before the rakhi is tied

Enjoying Indian sweets you get after tying on the rakhi
Our Good friend, Gauri tying a rakhi on Devan.
Raksha Bandhan-the festival of sacred bond between brother and sister-is celebrated both in India and different parts of the world with fun and enthusiasm. Raksha Bandhan or the Rakhi festival reinforces the protective bond and firms the loving fraternal relationship between brother & sister. On this festive occasion the sisters tie a Rakhi thread on the brother's wrist, perform 'aarti' and pray for the well being of their brothers. In return brothers gladly promises to protect their sisters when the need arises. This frail thread, signifying a sister's love for her brother, is considered stronger than iron chains.

Our busy July
Maya has been with us for 4 months now. Where did the time go?
We had a busy month! On July 8th, Maya was baptised. Her God parents
are her Uncle Joe Prasad and our special friends, Kevin and Jean Lindstrand.
It was a great day!
We finalized Maya's adoption on July 23rd. Another great day! We celebrated
by going to an Indian restaurant with the kids on the weekend! They all love to eat
spicy foods!
We had a great afternoon at my brothers swimming in their pool and celebrating
my nieces birthday.
Maya and her brothers have enjoyed swimming in our pools in the back yard on these
hot summer days. They also love to swing!
This weekend is the county fair, so we'll be going. I wonder how Maya will react to the cows
and other farm animals!
I hope everyone has a great August!
